Celebrating and recognising women on International Women’s Day

On March 8 every year, the world celebrates International Women’s Day. This year, International Women’s Day brings focus to gender equity through its global #InspireInclusion campaign. The campaign theme centres around the idea that when we inspire others to understand and value women’s inclusion, we forge a better world.

As a female owned and led business, we at LKB understand the importance of gender equality and what breaking the bias means to so many women and girls. As communicators, we understand that words have power, that’s why it’s so important that we find ways to raise each other up, celebrating our progress and achievements as individuals, and as a business.

When we actively create space for women to be seen and recognised in the workforce, we start to change attitudes and long held perceptions of what people can or cannot do. That’s why this International Women’s Day, I want to celebrate and recognise the amazing women across the communications industry, including the incredible women that I get to work with every day.

I have asked our team to share why they think it is important to celebrate International Women’s Day.

As women in 2024, we have a lot to celebrate and a lot to keep striving for! Happy International Women?s Day to all the wonderful women in our network.
Kirsty Bennett

When I think about the early years of my career, we?ve definitely come a long way, but we still have a long way to go in achieving gender equality and can?t be complacent. It?s important to come together, share and celebrate our achievements.
Nikki Edwards

Although International Women?s Day is a positive celebration of women globally, it is also a reminder that there is still immense work to do for gender equality. I really respect the work United Nations Women does globally for women and girls, and I like to support them on International Women?s Day.

Celebrating International Women?s Day, for me, is acknowledging the challenges and inequality that women face every day. As a husband, a father of three young women and a small business owner, I celebrate and show my support for all the strong women in my life. Always.
Aran Beytagh

Personally, it is a celebration of having the freedom to make my own choices everyday. It?s also about recognising the achievements of women around the globe and reflecting on the challenges we still face.
Amelia Breen

It?s important to celebrate International Women’s Day and the amazing, successful and powerful women who are breaking barriers and continuing to pave the way for equality. The day brings attention to current issues and encourages having open conversations with our peers not only on International Women’s Day, but every day.
Kyra Stanley

To me, International Women?s Day stands as a reminder to celebrate and recognise the important women in my life. Every woman?s achievements should be an inspiration to another!
Elizabeth Chilton

International Women’s Day is a day that should be celebrated by everyone. It is an important day to celebrate as it is an opportunity to share and acknowledge the achievements, sacrifices and successes of the women we surround ourselves with, in our personal lives as well as in the wider community and beyond.
Chloe Beytagh
