Challenge
To develop an industry engagement strategy for Transport for NSW to communicate their forward pipeline of transport infrastructure projects worth approximately $56 billion, to the construction industry. The strategy needed to provide an avenue for updating industry on new projects coming to market, to build and maintain relationships and engage industry in a partnership with government to deliver the unprecedented infrastructure program.
A key element of the strategy included the design, development and implementation of a large scale event and tradeshow for the construction industry and government stakeholders to communicate key information and provide a platform for industry to engage and network with each other, and with key government stakeholders.
A key challenge for the strategy and the event was to translate data heavy information into clear and cohesive collateral and presentations to be useful tools for industry to support resource planning and tendering for major projects.
Strategy
Using industry stakeholder research and insights, LKB built a strategy that included an annual event and project showcase that would provide a holistic picture of infrastructure in NSW, as well as provide data and insights into the delivery timeframes of Transport’s infrastructure program and using a tradeshow format, gave industry the opportunity to learn more about individual projects and network with Transport’s project teams.
The event educated industry through a sit down briefing hosted by the Minister for Transport and Roads and the Minister for Regional Transport and Roads, the TfNSW Secretary and senior government executives, to communicate the scale of projects ahead and how best to work together to deliver the large scale program of work with government.
The event included carefully curated presentations and a panel discussion with senior Transport and government executives to share ideas and insights into key challenges and opportunities for industry and government when delivering a program of this size.
The key piece of collateral provided at the event was a brochure detailing all future projects over the next five years, including their proposed value and timing in coming to market and expected delivery timeframes.
The tradeshow element, showcasing Transport projects and hosted by project teams, gave industry the opportunity to ask questions and build relationships.
LKB was responsible for all elements of the event from design, strategy and logistics through to speaker coaching and preparation, speaking notes, panel selection, discussion topics and content creation, production of all collateral and event management and delivery on the day.
Results
